Day Born Boy

England, 1638. The Three Kingdoms are on the brink of civil war. Lady Joan Caldwell carries a child for the Dominion and the masters her family has served for generations.

Her road runs from a winter in Yorkshire to Blackthorn House, where expectant mothers gather under Doctor Adler. Some of the children will prove ordinary. Others will become something more. This is the prequel novella, Joan's story, set before the Genesis origin story, and serialised on Substack.
